adelaide gets ready to party! watched the fringe parade tonight with the husband and a good friend. will post the photos in my multiply soon but now i am going to bed. i'm exhausted.
i was just thinking of the time i spent in bandung, indonesia. i just loved it. i loved the food and the shopping. but most of all i love (and miss) the people i met who ended up being my friends.
(one half of the indonesian batik masks i got from bandung)
"To sit alone in the lamplight with a book spread out before you, and hold intimate converse with men of unseen generations - such is a pleasure beyond compare."
Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.
they say that on average people spent 45-62 minutes a day waiting. that somebody who is 70 years old would have spent a total of 3 years of her/his life waiting. when coming up with this figure, did they factor in the time we spent waiting for the flowers to bloom? for babies' teeth to grow? for the right person? for broken hearts to heal? for opportunities to knock? for the world to change? for the universe to conspire?
a lazy meal to have when i do not have to cook for a family of four. how to cook: boil water remove the husk and the cornsilk add corn to the boiling water let it boil again turn off heat cover and let it sit for 10-15 mins take it out of the pot put loads of butter enjoy.
it does not take much to make me happy. looking out of our kitchen window and seeing our tiny, tiny veggie/herb patch gives me so much pleasure, it's pathetic. like for instance, these tiny coriander plants which are from the seeds of the coriander we planted last year is a cause of excitement. (note to self: need to go out more.)
oh hello there.
my name's petite and this is my 365 project. i am taking a photo each day, every day this year. and maybe next year too. and perhaps the year after that in which case it will become my 366 project because it is a leap year. (i think.)
